Our morning was spent at the pool, per H's request, although tar sticking to his feet from the cracks in the concrete was more memorable than the water. We drove to nearby Lady Bug Park, but found everything uninspiring aside from the medieval tween jousting tournament going on in the adjacent grass (although, man, it was like looking into a crystal ball--future H clad with shield and duct tape sword; he even requested a cape--knight style--from a toy store in San Francisco last week: "Want to have that?"). Mai Vietnamese was our lunch stop and provided the following valuable lesson: if you are graced with a, say, reluctant or selective eater, put peanut sauce on his food and he will eat it. We made good on our promise to take him into the aquarium/reptile store if he ate lunch. Jeepers creepers, were those lizards big.
